Question: Write about theRole of Concepts in Health Care for Listening. Answer: Listening to its root is like attempting to hear and comprehend the words spoken by another person. Listening is important in a person's life so as to build the healthy relationship, strong leadership that are required to thrive in an organization or to thrive properly in life. Listening actively is one of the effective communication skill that a person needs to undertake. This means that listening is like paying attention to what the other person is saying and having an undivided attention. This quality is of utmost importance and it helps in the group development and individual change (Baab, 2014). The video chosen is a video on how to listen better by Julian Treasure and this video is chosen because listening is a quality that in the present day is immensely lacked by individuals. The present-day condition is such that have made humans behave in a way that has made listening to an absurd thing. The patience to listen to another person actively has almost vanished. people without listening to the other people jump to conclusions that lead to quarrel and arguments. Listening can be considered as a skill which is like picking up information on the sound that we choose to. Thus, listening is also like protecting our ears from the unnecessary and the unwelcome words that we do not prefer to listen. Active listening is like an eyelid on the ear, listening also plays a major role in the singing, speech, control of the mechanism of singing and speech, performing non-verbal communication, motor skills, spatial awareness, movement and body posture. Effortless and the automatic listening increases the attention span and the focus of listening. Listening is also essential for a child to develop the motivation and engagement. Listening is also helpful in the development of the learning, language and communication. Listening is vital for a child's development and is essential for the academic achievement, social adjustment and well-being of the child. Thus, it can be said that the power of listening can have a lifetime experience of a person (Mendelsohn Lynch, 2013). The important points emphasized in the video are: the speaker says that now a days people have lost the power to listen actively to the other person and this is the reason of the occurrence of war, misunderstanding, quarrel and arguments between people. Conscious listening is what is truly lacked by the people because people are restless and want things to be done quickly. The lack of conscious listening has made people behave in a solitary way. The speaker has emphasized on the listening positions like the active and passive listening position, expansive or reductive listening, empathetic or critical listening. The speaker also shared that every person belonging to any profession must follow a simple thumb rule regarding the active listening. He emphasizes on the acronym RASA which is a Sanskrit word and it means juice. The word RASA stands for Receive, Appreciate, Summarize and Ask. Receiving is hearing properly, appreciate is like giving short appreciation like yes or Hmm in the m iddle of a conversation so that the one who is speaking can understand the other person is paying attention. Then summarize the information of the speaker in short and if the need arises ask the question at the last of the conversation. The speaker also emphasizes that a person can increase his or her listening skills through the listening to the random of the surrounding and the sound of nature. This can increase the concentration of the listener and also will be helpful in paying attention. The thoughts shared by the speaker in the video is actually can be relatable to the personal level. Listening can be helpful in keeping the relationships healthy and even also helps in increasing the lead. These skills are a majority of the time dependent on an individual and his or her perceptions (Asemota, 2015). One experience that can be shared that I witnessed. One day I found two of my friends quarrelling and arguing regarding a fact. The fact was not of much importance, however, both of my friends found it to be important. The vital point is that the information provided by one person is not understood by the other person and based on this, both the people started to argue. The message provided in the video is actually agreeable because the speaker cited some examples that occur in our daily life and its impact are huge. Regarding the fact, listening is one of the important qualities and is equally important for a person that emphasizes a lot of writing and speaking. Viewing the video did not challenge my belief or my philosophies because the importance of listening is of utmost importance in our daily life. Else it can be said that the philosophies regarding listening have consolidated firmly by viewing and practising the same in my life. The message delivered by the speaker is quite powerful and is making an impact on the minds of the listeners. This is due to the fact that the listening is one of the basic part of our life and yet people knowingly and unknowingly ignore it (Brownell, 2015). Thus, from the above study, it can be concluded that listening is equally important like speaking and writing. The real essence of conscious listening leads to better development of the learning capabilities and helps in self-development. Reference Asemota, H. E. (2015).
